![]() U.S.A. Mission Progress To Date: After a short flight to Anchorage, Alaska, the crew stopped at ERA Aviation, a Bell Helicopter Customer Service Facility, for several hours to perfrom the 150 hour inspection on the aircraft. With that accomplished, the crew set out for Nome, planning to stay the night there. Once again, flying in difficult weather conditions kept the crew too busy to send a lot of messages. John Williams called in from the ground during their stop at ERA Aviation. You can read some of that conversation below. So far the crew has flown 13,823 nautical miles with 6,725 nautical miles to go. Messages From The Crew(updated 8-26-96): John Williams, "...just because we are not sending you a lot of messages doesn't mean we don't love you. But when we are flying at 100 feet off of a rough sea in high winds with thunderstorms in our path, getting messages out is not our first priority...when the weather is good, we'll send you more messages. We'll be downright chatty. But when we're fighting the weather like this, we have to worry about other things..." Shortcuts Daily Flight Plans and Progress (by date) |
