Bell 430 Around The World Flight August 25th, 1996 - DAY 9 Flight Plan:
* Subject to change
Mission Progress To Date: The flight plan for today called for a trip up the western coast of Canada and on to Anchorage, Alaska. The crew ran into very severe weather that included high winds, rain, and thunderstorms. Flying in these conditions kept the crew too busy to send a lot of messages. Flying around the most severe weather they continued northward, but were unable to reach Anchorage by dark. Instead of trying to fly over high mountains at night, in bad weather, they chose instead to stop for the night and take shelter at Seward, Alaska. So far the crew has flown 13,256 nautical miles (over two thirds of the way!) with 7,292 nautical miles to go.
